Cougars rally past Tigers; Colts cruise

SHINNSTON — Lincoln rallied for four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to claim an 11-9 win over Elkins Tuesday in Big 10 play.

The Tigers had scored five times in the fifth and another run in the sixth to build a 9-7 lead.

Braden Cooper had three RBIs, Michael Love drove in two and Dyer Barger had three hits to pace Elkins.

Alex Broschart took the loss in relief.

Colton Edwards had three RBIs for the Cougars.

The Tigers (1-4) are slated to face host Weir and North Marion on Saturday.

PB 14, East Fairmont 1

FAIRMONT — Grant Harris allowed just one run over five innings as Philip Barbour cruised past East Fairmont, 14-1, on Tuesday.

Harris allowed six hits and fanned six. Robbie Jones finished in relief.

Landyn Carpenter had four RBIs in the win, while Slaton Harris clubbed a three-run homer. Tyler Sisson added three RBIs and Anthony Mosesso a pair of doubles.

The Colts, who defeated Buckhannon-Upshur, 6-3, on Monday, are now 2-0 and visit Ritchie County tonight.

Lincoln 22, Elkins 6

SHINNSTON — Adriana Elder drove in eight runs as Lincoln defeated Elkins, 22-6, on Tuesday.

Gabby Mahanes had three RBIs for the Lady Tigers, who dropped to 2-2 on the season and return home Thursday to face Liberty for another Big 10 game.

PB 20, East Fairmont 3

FAIRMONT — Avery McDaniel cracked a grand slam and finished with six RBIs to power Philip Barbour past East Fairmont, 20-3, on Tuesday.

Katelyn Cooper added five RBIs for the Lady Colts. Cooper, Avery McDaniel, Payton McDaniel, Olivia Wilmoth, Lindsey Moss all had three hits each.

Jhenna Hicks earned the win on the mound for Philip Barbour, which is now 4-1 and hosts Lewis County on Thursday. The Lady Colts also defeated B-U, 8-3, Monday at home.

Tucker 14, East Hardy 6

BAKER — MaKenna Evans had a three-run homer in Tucker County’s 14-6 win over East Hardy on Tuesday.

Bella Loucks added four RBIs and Ava Shaffer and Sutton Pace three hits apiece for the Lady Mountain Lions.

Peyton Hicks earned the win on the mound.

Tucker County (1-0) visits Tygarts Valley on Thursday.

TV sweeps Webster County

UPPER GLADE — Tygarts Valley swept Webster County on Monday evening by the scores of 17-12 and 21-10.

Addie Riddle had five hits, a homer and three RBIs in the lidlifter, while Emily Smith had four hits, Kailen Yokum and Neveah Cooper three RBIs each and Allyssa Sweker, Hannah Cabaniss and Lilly Lanham three hits apiece.

Riddle also homered and drove in six runs on three hits in the nightcap. Yokum added two RBIs on three hits.

The Lady Bulldogs (2-1) are slated to host Gilmer County at 5 p.m. today.
